baby movement?

Awrighty, then, I've been putting off this post b/c I have no idea if I'm feeling baby movement or gas bubbles or what. But just about this time last week (15w2d) I started feeling what I'd describe as either a slight twitching feeling or slight popping feeling in my lower left abdomen; right around where I think my uterus is, about 4 inches below my belly button and about four inches from the center. The feeling is always in the same spot, is not consistent, and its not very obvious. Sometimes, when I feel it, I wonder, is that gas? Then immediately I believe I feel the need to fart, then think, ok that was gas.

Since last week, I've felt it almost everyday since...maybe once or twice a day. Again, is it gas? Is it my muscle's twitching? Is it the baby? I have no idea. I do know that generally, first time moms dont feel movement till 17-20 weeks, and since I'm at 16w3d today, and think I started feeling this last week, I've been convincing myself that there's no way this could be baby.

But, I decided to post about it today, b/c I'm still feeling those same "feelings", at least once a day. I think yesterday and today, I'm starting to feel it a bit more often than once or twice. I didn't get a chance to ask Dr. O whether the place where I think I'm feeling movement, could actually be baby (b/c I admit, I didn't write down my questions for him, and I admit, I even had to call him back after the appointment to ask a couple very important ones that I forgot to ask at the appointment. Finding out your baby is a healthy baby boy after a scare like I had will do that to ya.). Anyways, so my official status is - I haven't yet felt baby movement. But I'm finally willing to admit, that I COULD be feeling this litte guy move. I believe the official term is called "quickening." I guess we'll be sure in a couple weeks.

As a side note, I should really come up with a nickname for this little man, yeah? Hmmm, maybe he'll be the firecracker cuz the hubsters is a firefighter and this boy apparently likes to create some excitement....we'll see....

  1. It totally sounds like you're feeling movement! I could have written this exact same post a few weeks ago - I was in denial that it was the baby I was feeling...I convinced myself it was gas, but now I know it really WAS her.

    Happy Quickening!

  4. The only reason why first time moms feel that baby later is because they dont recognize the movement...or they mistake it for gas. So you very well could be feeling it and just arent sure! I have had the same problem. My stomach seems to have tugs and twinges and pains all day long so I dont know how to differentiate!

    But YAY for possible movement!

  7. Nope, I think you're feeling your little firecracker move! I had the same feelings around week 15 and told myself I couldn't possibly be feeling the baby that soon. But those same feelings got stronger and more frequent.

    Congrats!
