Anti-climatic. That's what the appointment was. I went in, the doc did his thing, and I still dont know if I can start TTC.
Ok, let me explain more. I went in, and the doc did an endometrial biopsy (he called it a "wimpy D&C"). It was in an in-office procedure and damn, that sh$T hurt!!!!!! It was quick though, but the cramping still hurt afterward. I took two advil (had to buy some at he downstairs OTC pharmacy) and that helped. However, I wont know the results (whether I still have hyperplasia) until he calls me on Tuesday or WEdnesday. He had to send the sample to the lab and b/c its a long weekend, I wont know till Tuesday or Wednesday. The good news is that he did say that the lining looked pretty thin, so he didn't think I still had hyperplasia.
Here comes the bad part -- kinda. He said that I should finish out the pill pack (I have about 10 days left of colored pills) and then I should wait 2 months until I get pregnant. He said he wants my lining and cycle to have more of a chance to get back to normal. My thoughts on that - I will finish out the pill pack (or come close to it as I can - which may be only till I get the call on Tuesday or Wednesday), but I dont think I'm going to wait 2 more months before TTC. I have a feeling its going to take me 2 months just to get the hang of temping and timing my BDing. I mean, last time I started TTC after taking the pill, it took me 3 months before my first pregnancy. So my plan is to start TTC right away.
Call me crazy, but I feel as if I've been waiting FOREVER and I've always been following the doctor's orders. (Except for getting pregnant immediately after my 1st MC and not waiting a cycle). I also feel as if my body is back to normal (except for being on BCPs) and the extra two months of waiting is unnecessary precaution - you know, how doctors say things just to be extra duperly cautious. I think that when my body is ready to get pregnant, it will, whether it be on my first cycle TTC or my 3rd.
So that's my decision. Let me know what u think. Feel free to be brutally honest...I respect that.
And I'll keep you posted as to the lab results. I'm confident it will be fine.
I understand how sick of waiting you are. I hope your test results are good!!!
ReplyDeleteI would imagine that its a "dating" thing. Should you become pregnant in 2 weeks after the pill they would have a harder time dating the pregnancy--which is the only reason they have you wait 1 full cycle after a miscarriage too!
ReplyDeleteFollow your gut, and see what happens. For to be honest, I am ready to get started immediately after my surgery on Tuesday and have already figured out Provera dates...Bad Betty. So we are in the same boat!
Good luck!!!
I think having unprotected sex after you get the green light would be fine! I know I wouldn't be able to wait either! But I would definitely finish the pill pack...just so you don't screw up a cycle and waste a month! But thats just my opinion! I will be anxiously awaiting your good news this week!!!
ReplyDeleteI know all of this can be really frustrating but I think you are letting your emotions and desires to get pregnant make decisions for you. Two months is not that long. I know it seems like forever, but your body needs time to heal so that it can grow a baby. what if you did get pregnant and something went wrong, you would always blame yourself for jumping the gun.
ReplyDeleteJust take some chill time to think this through.
Ugh...more waiting? I don't understand wanting you to wait until your cycles are more regular. BCPs regulate your cycles and it would take more than two months to truly know if they were regular without them. Even if its not completely regular all that matters is that spermies make to the egg when it is there. If your lining wasn't normal by now I would think he would want more testing. I hate to advocate ignoring a doctor's advice but I don't get this one. If you are still unsure maybe you could ask your doc what negative effect he thinks your current lining might have on a pregnacy? I am pretty sure I would have made the same decision you have. I will check back to hear about your lab results. Good luck!!!

ReplyDeleteFirst I think you should just follow your heart. You know your body better than anyone else and if you are feeling alright than I would say that once you get your results which I am sure will be just fine, there is no reason why you and hubby should TTC. I do not think it is a dating though however, I think it is that doctors always seem to air on the side of caution because medicine is not an exact science. It's the same thing I am dealing with right now trying to get an induction date pinned down for Nathan's delivery. I would say that if your cycles seem to be regulated now since your last m/c that once you talk to your doctor this week and get your results, that there is no reason why you shouldn't start charting and temping, etc..with the beginning of your next cycle. So here is to a speedy AF for you!!! Hang in there B! I just know it won't be long now!!!!
Two months seems like a long time if the biopsy is normal.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to say what to do here. I know how ready you are to try again. After my m/c, I was afraid to get pregnant because I didn't want ANOTHER m/c just because I didn't wait for my body to get back to normal. But at the same time, I went ahead and temped, charted my cycles, etc just to get the feel of what my body was doing.
In the end, when AF showed up, I was disappointed I wasn't pregnant (though the chances were slim) but at the same time relieved because I was afraid it wouldn't have been a healthy pregnancy anyway.
I know that really isn't advice but think about the possible outcomes and how you would cope with them.
I know the thought of MORE waiting is awful . . . you're in my thoughts.
I agree with many of the above comments. Trust yourself and your body. Your body may end up needing the time to get back to a normal natural cycle and adequate lining but it will do that on its own. So I vote for finishing that pill pack and having unprotected fun! It will happen before you know it and I will be following closely!
